Data version 2.0 - Feeds adjustments
Here you can learn about the impact Placer data version 2.0 has on Placer feeds
Overview
Placer has lately launched a new data version, giving you full visibility into any visit of at least one minute in length (short visits).
Data Version 2.0 also includes improvements to our extrapolation capabilities, enhancements to visit detection, and an increased capacity to account for travel and tourism.
These additions lead to increases in accuracy, granularity, and visibility, and also greater coverage because of the ability to include lower dwell time visits. The result will be the most robust, accurate, and representative view of what is taking place in the physical world.
The full rollout of the new data within all elements of the dashboard is scheduled to take place on March 31st.
What to expect?
If you are receiving your feed through online buckets or Snowflake, you will find an additional folder titled “new-data-version” with the new data export. The files within the new folder will retain file structure and naming conventions. The version_code field will update to 2.0.0.
If you are receiving a feed via email delivery, two separate emails will be sent to you. The new side-by-side data version email will be marked in the body of the email.
This side-by-side feed will be available until March 31st.
If you have any questions or wish to opt-out from receiving a side-by-side feed, please reach out to your Customer Success Representative.
Feeds Schema changes
As Placer is about to release on March 31st a new data version a few actions were taken:
Additional columns have been introduced to the Premium export, Origins, and Chain/Venue Multi-Metrics feeds to align with the enhancements of DV 2.0:
- Extend visits_by_dwell_time_X bins on Premium export with the following 3 dwell time bins (3 additional columns):
- visits_by_dwell_time_0_5 - Shows the count of visits to the POI during the specified period that lasted less than 5 minutes.
- visits_by_dwell_time_5_10 - Shows the count of visits to the POI during the specified period with a duration ranging from 5 minutes (inclusive) to less than 10 minutes (exclusive).
- visits_by_dwell_time_10_15 - Shows the count of visits to the POI during the specified period with a duration ranging from 10 minutes (inclusive) to less than 15 minutes (exclusive).
These bins will be added before visits_by_dwell_time_15_30
- A new column visit_duration_segmentation (in all the above-mentioned feeds), this column values include one of the following:
- under_10_min - Insights of entities generated by visits shorter than 10 minutes.
- 10_min_or_longer - Insights of entities generated by visits of 10 minutes or more.
- all_visits - Insights of entities generated by any duration visits.
