Data version 2.1 - API enhancements
To continuously enhance the quality of our data we are thrilled to launch data version 2.1 introducing a new dynamic model that improves accuracy.
Overview
Placer.ai is excited to launch Data Version 2.1 to API customers, introducing a new dynamic model that improves accuracy and better aligns with external ground truth sources, along with up-to-date demographic information available via the API. The full roll-out of the new data version across the platform is expected to take place on September 28th, 2024.
What’s new with Data Version 2.1?
To ensure Placer’s data is representative of the entire U.S. population, our debiasing model corrects various biases such as age, geography, and now also the distribution of mobile operating systems (iOS & Android) within our panel that change on an ongoing basis.
Data Version 2.1 stabilizes daily operating system ratio fluctuations that vary significantly across different chains (even within the same category) with a dynamic debiasing model that identifies outliers and provides a logic that improves accuracy.
The new data version introduces dynamic mechanisms to calculate daily ratios and applies the appropriate debiasing adjustment to stabilize daily fluctuations that occur within the same chain over time.
Starting September 28th you can enjoy the enhancements of Data Version 2.1 in Placer’s API.
With the new data version, expect the following changes:
- 2020 Census Geographies Update - The data pulled by the API, as well as data across the platform, will reflect the most recent Census geographies, shifting all relevant metrics to 2020 Census Block Group boundaries to account for recent population shifts, housing developments, and other changes, resulting in a more accurate representation of data. This enhancement will impact the data pulled by the Trade area demographics profile report and the Visits by CBGs report endpoints.
- Datasets Update - Trade area demographics report endpoint will be pulling newer Census demographic data to reflect the Census 2022 American Community Survey (ACS) via a new dataset value of "census". The new dataset will reflect the most updated available census version. The "census" dataset will be used as the default dataset. This enhancement will be available within the Trade area demographics profile report.
